Distinctive Unit Insignia


Description/Blazon
A gold color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of a gold fer-de-moline surmounting a white voided five pointed star all within a red background and encircled by a continuous gold scroll, the upper area of the scroll behind the points of the star and inscribed in base "SUPPORT TO COMBAT" in red letters.

Symbolism
The fer-de-moline, an iron affixed to the center of a millstone and used as an heraldic representation for support, refers to the basic mission of the organization.  The star represents guidance and achievement and further alludes to the star from the state seal of Texas, home area of the Group.

Background
The distinctive unit insignia was approved on 16 March 1971.
